Don't other meats potentially have prion-related disease, and are there not also inadequate safeguards on their use?

Yes, but the beef industry is a very powerful lobby. If we can overcome that lobby to get laws changed, the laws will be changed for all meats.

Many people will choose to stop eating many different meats, but we are not eating beef to put political pressure on that lobby.
